Solar Battery Storage Installations
A solar battery stores excess electricity generated by a solar photovoltaic (PV) system during periods of low energy use, then the stored energy in the battery is used during periods of high energy demand, such as at night or during cloudy weather.
An outline of how solar battery storage works:
1. Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight, which is then converted from DC to AC power by an inverter.
2. The solar energy generated is either used directly or stored in a battery for later use. Any excess energy that is generated beyond what is needed is diverted to the battery.
3. When energy demand exceeds solar production, such as during cloudy weather or at night, the battery supplies the stored energy.
When the battery is depleted, the system automatically draws electricity from the grid. If the battery is fully charged and the home or business is not using all of the solar energy generated, excess energy can be exported back to the grid via an SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) tariff.
By storing excess solar energy in batteries, solar panel systems can provide backup power during power cuts and reduce your reliance on the grid. They can also help save money on electricity bills by reducing the amount of electricity used from the grid.
